Storm Mountain Road
Designed as a BWR shakedown ride, this route includes some short punchy dirt climbs and finishes with a technical descent. 86 miles but 7900 feet of elevation. The somewhat unknown cat 2 climb up from Drake off of Devils Gulch is a very fun switchback climb but the pavement is giving out from time and weather so be careful on a skinny tire bike.
The Stats:
Distance: 86 miles
Paved: 80%
Climbing: 7900 feet
Notes: Highway 34 has a nice shoulder but can be full of tourists in the summer, especially on the weekends.
Refills: Dam Store, Masonville Mercantile, and Horsetooth Mountain Open Space.
Tires: Something like a 34 WTB Byway would be super fun. Most is paved but a little grip on dirt descents is always nice.
