FoCo Fondo 100-ish miles

A variance on one of the FoCo Fondo 100-mile routes we’ve produced over the years. Most most of the climbing accumulates in the first half, just past Carr. Once you slog through that, you can speedily zoom to New Belgium for a post-ride beer. Be forewarned, there are ZERO services on this route. You really need to pack enough water and consider that the fastest times on this course were with large groups drafting. Once you get north of town, it’s not uncommon to have surprisingly strong winds.

The Stats:

  • Distance: 107 miles

  • Paved: 30%

  • Climbing: 5000 feet

Notes: Be sure to research the wind ahead of time as it can be quite strong and might cause a change in your fueling plan. Plenty of goatheads in the summer.

Refills: There are no services and no creeks to refill. You really do need to carry everything you need with you. The route is also very exposed with almost no shade- this should be taken into account with your water calculation.

Tires: Something like a WTB Vulpine in a 36 would be super fun. A lot of the gravel is fast rolling and is best paired with a fast gravel tire that can get you through the technical and loose sections.
